About the cemetery

Character and history

The grounds in Holthausen combine mature trees, two chapel areas and a columbarium in the former small chapel. An eastern exit leads towards Elbroich Park. Despite the cemetery’s name, its Itterstraße entrance is in Holthausen.

The cemetery originated around 1800; records of its first burial were lost during the Second World War. A Protestant section was added in 1919; denominational separation ended in 1929. The small chapel was built in 1953, eastern expansion began in 1954, and a new chapel followed in 1980/81.
